Sedum spectabile Autumn Joy

Sedum spectabile Autumn Joy

Sedum spectabile Autumn Joy

Also known as Hylotelephium ‘Herbstfreude’ (‘Autumn Joy’), this reliable, clump-forming stonecrop bears large, flat heads of tiny deep pink flowers from late summer into autumn, loved by pollinators and followed by tawny seedheads that provide valuable winter structure. Fleshy, succulent green leaves help it cope with dry spells, and it thrives in full sun and well-drained, moderately fertile soil; avoid waterlogging. Ideal for mixed borders, gravel gardens and containers, with an eventual mound to around 60cm tall and wide. Fully hardy across Ireland and holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
