Iris germanica mix P15
Iris germanica mix P15
Bearded irises in this Iris germanica mix bring bold, classic late spring to early summer display, with sturdy fans of sword-like green foliage adding strong vertical accents in sunny borders. For reliable performance in Irish gardens, grow in full sun and very well-drained, moderately fertile soil that is neutral to alkaline (they tolerate chalk). Plant rhizomes shallowly with their tops just at the surface so they receive warmth and light, and avoid waterlogging, especially in winter. Fully hardy and moderate in growth, clumps typically reach around 60–90cm in height; once established they cope well with dry summer conditions. Excellent for sunny mixed and cottage-style borders; divide congested clumps after flowering every few years to maintain vigour.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
