Scirpus tabern. Zebrinus 18 cm aquatic basket
Scirpus tabern. Zebrinus 18 cm aquatic basket
Schoenoplectus (syn. Scirpus) tabernaemontani ‘Zebrinus’ is a striking marginal aquatic with upright, cylindrical, green stems boldly banded with creamy horizontal stripes, creating a distinctive “zebra” effect. It forms bold vertical clumps that bring strong architectural lines to the edges of ponds and water features. Best grown in full sun at the pond margin or in shallow water, it is well suited to an aquatic basket of loam topped with gravel (as supplied) to keep growth contained. Fully hardy in Irish gardens; remove old stems in late winter to tidy.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
