SCABIOSA colum. Butterfly Blue

SCABIOSA colum. Butterfly Blue

Scabiosa colum. ‘Butterfly Blue’ is a compact, long-flowering perennial bearing soft blue, pincushion-like blooms on airy stems from early summer into autumn, much loved by bees and butterflies. Grow in full sun in well-drained, moderately fertile soil; it thrives on neutral to alkaline, chalky ground. Forming a neat mound around 30–45cm, it’s ideal for the front of sunny borders and cottage-style plantings, where regular deadheading helps to prolong the display.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
