Saxifraga Alpino Early Rose

Saxifraga Alpino Early Rose

Saxifraga Rose 3 Ltr

Saxifraga ‘Rose’ is a compact, evergreen mossy saxifrage forming tight cushions of finely divided green foliage, topped in spring with sprays of soft pink, five-petalled blooms. Ideal for rock gardens, wall crevices, troughs and the front of borders in Irish gardens, it does best in cool conditions with moist but well-drained, moderately fertile, neutral to alkaline soil. Site in full sun or light/partial shade, avoiding hot afternoon sun; deadhead spent stems to keep the cushion neat and encourage a longer display.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.

Position Position: Full sun or light/partial shade
Growth Rate of Growth: Moderate, forming tight mats over time
Soil Soil: Moist but well-drained, moderately fertile, neutral to alkaline (incl. chalky); avoid winter wet
