Phalaris arund. Picta 18 cm aquatic basket

Phalaris arundinacea ‘Picta’ (variegated reed canary grass) is a vigorous, deciduous ornamental grass with boldly striped cream-and-green leaves, supplied ready to place in an 18 cm aquatic basket with gravel. Fully hardy and reliable in Irish gardens, it thrives in sun or light shade and in moderately fertile, moist to wet soils, making an eye-catching choice for pond margins and damp ground. Airy green flower panicles appear in summer; keeping the plant contained in its basket helps manage its naturally spreading habit by the water’s edge.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
