Papaver or. 'Royal Wedding'

Papaver or. Royal Wedding

Papaver orientale ‘Royal Wedding’ is a clump-forming, herbaceous perennial for sunny borders, producing large, silky, pure white flowers with a dark basal blotch in early summer (May–June). Reaching about 0.9m tall and 0.9m across, it thrives in fertile, moist but well-drained soil and dislikes winter waterlogging. After flowering the foliage often dies back before returning later in the season, so pair with later perennials to fill the temporary gap. Ideal for mixed and cottage-style borders and valued by pollinators visiting its open, pollen-rich blooms in Irish gardens.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
