Paeonia suffruticosa (tree peony) is a long-lived, deciduous shrub prized for its spectacular late spring display. This mixed selection offers very large, silky flowers in shades of white, pink, red, purple and yellow, carried above attractive, divided green foliage. For best results in Ireland, plant in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or light shade, and choose a sheltered position to protect the blooms from strong winds. Once established, tree peonies prefer not to be moved. Ideal as a focal point in mixed or cottage-style borders, bringing sumptuous early-summer colour and structure.
