Lychnis viscaria Splendens
Lychnis viscaria Splendens
Lychnis viscaria Splendens is a compact, clump-forming perennial valued for its vivid, deep pink flower spikes in late spring and early summer. Best in full sun and well-drained soil, it thrives on light, sandy or chalky ground and is well-suited to rock gardens, gravel areas and the front of sunny borders. Forming neat evergreen clumps of slender green leaves, it typically reaches around 30–45cm in height and about 30cm across, and is fully hardy in Irish gardens. Deadhead spent stems to keep plants tidy after flowering.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
