Libertia grandiflora
Libertia grandiflora
Libertia grandiflora (syn. L. chilensis) is an evergreen, clump-forming perennial valued in Irish gardens for its narrow, dark green, grass-like leaves and upright sprays of white, three‑petalled flowers in late spring to early summer. Awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it brings clean architectural structure to borders, gravel plantings and containers, and the blooms are suitable for cutting. Grow in full sun to light shade and moist but well‑drained soil; forms a durable clump to about 1m in height and spread.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
