Festuca glauca Intens Blue Festuca glauca Intense Blue

Festuca glauca Intens Blue (often sold as Festuca glauca ‘Intense Blue’) is a compact, clump-forming evergreen ornamental grass prized for its intensely blue foliage, forming neat hummocks that add year-round colour and texture to gravel gardens, rockeries, sunny borders and containers. Best in full sun and sharply drained soil, it thrives on poor, sandy or chalky ground and resents waterlogging. In early to mid-summer it sends up fine, airy flower stems above the foliage; remove spent stems and lightly comb out dead leaves in spring to keep clumps tidy. Ultimately around 30cm tall and wide, and drought-tolerant once established.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
