DIGITALIS pur. Alba
DIGITALIS pur. Alba
Digitalis purpurea ‘Alba’ is a classic white foxglove, producing elegant spires of pure white, tubular flowers in early to midsummer that are highly attractive to bees. A biennial or short-lived perennial for Irish gardens, it’s ideal for cottage-style borders and woodland edges, thriving in moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil. Grow in sun or light shade; taller stems benefit from shelter from strong winds, and allowing plants to self-seed will help maintain graceful drifts year after year. Eventual height around 1.2–1.5m with a spread to about 45cm.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
