Dierama pulcherrimum

Dierama pulcherrimum

Dierama pulcherrimum, often called angel’s fishing rod, is an elegant, evergreen clump-forming perennial with narrow, grass-like leaves and arching, wiry stems that carry nodding, bell-shaped pink flowers in mid to late summer. Best in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil, it appreciates a warm, sheltered position in Irish gardens and reliable drainage through winter; plants resent disturbance, so allow clumps to establish without lifting or dividing frequently. Superb for adding movement and vertical grace to mixed borders and gravel plantings, it typically reaches 1.2–1.5m in height with a spread of around 60–90cm over time.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
