Crocosmia 'Lucifer'

Crocosmia 'Lucifer'

Crocosmia 'Lucifer'

Crocosmia 'Lucifer' is a bold cormous perennial valued for its tall, arching spikes of vivid red, funnel-shaped flowers held above clumps of sword-like green leaves. Flowering from August to September in Irish gardens, it brings strong late-summer colour and upright structure to mixed borders. Reaching about 90–120cm tall and 30–60cm wide, it performs best in full sun or light shade and in moderately fertile, well-drained, humus-rich soil that is not allowed to dry out in summer. Excellent for planting in groups for impact and for cutting for indoor arrangements.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
