Acer palmatum Sumi-nagashi 3 Ltr pot

Acer palmatum 'Sumi-nagashi' is a refined Japanese maple valued for its rich seasonal leaf colour: emerging purple-red in spring, deepening to dark maroon through summer, then turning bright crimson in autumn. It forms an elegant, upright small tree that thrives in a sheltered spot with sun or light shade and moist, humus-rich, preferably acid to neutral soil. Ideal as a focal specimen for architectural or Japanese-style planting, where its colour and graceful branching provide year-round structure.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.

Position Position: Sun or light shade; sheltered from cold winds
Growth Rate of Growth: Moderate
Soil Soil: Moist but well-drained, humus-rich; preferably acid to neutral
