LAVANDULA an. Hidcote (Lavender)

LAVANDULA an. Hidcote (Lavender)

A celebrated compact English lavender with neat, evergreen, silver-grey foliage and dense spikes of deep purple flowers in mid- to late summer. Highly scented and excellent for edging paths, low informal hedges and containers, it thrives in full sun and free-draining soil, making it ideal for gravel and Mediterranean-style plantings in Ireland. Loved by bees and other pollinators, it performs best on light, sandy or chalky soils of moderate fertility; avoid heavy or waterlogged ground, particularly in winter. Once established it is drought-tolerant. Lightly trim after flowering to keep a compact shape, taking care not to cut into old woody stems.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
