Lavandula angustifolia P19

Lavandula angustifolia P19

Lavandula angustifolia (English lavender) is a compact, evergreen to semi-evergreen, bushy subshrub producing slender summer spikes of richly scented purple flowers that are highly attractive to pollinators; excellent for sunny Irish borders, low hedging, and gravel or Mediterranean-style plantings. Grow in full sun with very well-drained soil that is poor to moderately fertile and neutral to alkaline (light sandy or chalky soils suit it well); once established it is drought-tolerant, but avoid heavy or waterlogged ground. Clip lightly after flowering to maintain a neat, dense shape and longer-lived plants.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
