Olea Europaea on Stem Bowl 180cm
Olea Europaea on Stem Bowl 180cm
Olea europaea is an evergreen Mediterranean tree valued for its neat, structural form and narrow grey-green leaves. Trained as a standard with a rounded “bowl” crown, it makes a striking focal point for entrances, terraces and patios, and can be grown in the ground or in a large container. For reliable performance in Ireland, plant in full sun with excellent drainage, ideally in a sheltered spot. Once established it tolerates dry conditions and coastal exposure. Small, creamy-white flowers may appear in early summer; fruits may develop in long, warm summers but are not guaranteed. Prune lightly in late spring to maintain the shape, avoid heavy winter pruning, and protect from severe frost in colder areas.
This is a standard tree with a clear stem and a shaped crown above. The tree was grown up to this stem height and then pruned to stop the trunk growing taller. The clear stem will remain at the height you receive it at, with future growth coming from the top of the tree.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
