SORBUS COMMIXTA
SORBUS COMMIXTA
Sorbus commixta is a broadly conical, deciduous small tree with ascending branches and pinnate leaves that are dark green through the growing season, colouring reliably in autumn with shades of red, yellow or purple. Flat clusters of white flowers in late spring are followed by round, red to orange-red berries. Expect an eventual size around 8m tall by 5m wide, typically reached in 20–50 years. For best results in Irish gardens, plant in full sun or light shade in moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
