Salix integra Hakuro-nishiki

Salix integra Hakuro-nishiki

Salix integra 'Hakuro-nishiki' is a compact, deciduous willow valued for its fresh, variegated foliage. Young leaves emerge with soft pink flushes before maturing to a striking green-and-white dappled effect, lighting up borders through the growing season. It forms a neat, rounded shrub to around 2.5m tall and wide over time. For the best colour and shape, grow in full sun in moist but well-drained, fertile soil, and prune in late winter or early spring to encourage vigorous new shoots. Fully hardy and well suited to Irish gardens, it makes an eye-catching focal point and performs particularly well where the soil does not dry out.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
