Pyrus c. Conference C 35 double U-form
Pyrus c. Conference C 35 double U-form
Pyrus communis 'Conference' is a classic dessert pear prized for reliable crops and excellent flavour. Trained into a compact double U-form, it is ideal for growing flat against wires, fences or walls, making efficient use of vertical space in smaller gardens and narrow beds. In spring it bears clusters of white blossom, followed by the familiar ‘Conference’ fruits, typically ready to pick from late September into October; fruit can finish ripening indoors after harvesting. ‘Conference’ is self-fertile, though cropping is often improved with a compatible pollinator nearby. Plant in full sun in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil, and maintain the trained framework with light summer pruning and winter spur pruning to keep the shape neat and productive.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
