PEAR CONFERENCE - PATIO

Pyrus communis 'Conference' is the classic, reliable dessert pear for UK gardens, renowned for its fragrant white spring blossom and sweet, elongated fruits that ripen in early autumn. It is self‑fertile, so a single tree can crop, though a nearby compatible pear can improve yields. Best grown in full sun and fertile, well‑drained soil, with a sheltered spot helping to protect blossom from late frosts. A deciduous tree that lends itself well to pruning and training; for patio growing it can be maintained compactly in a large container on an appropriate dwarfing rootstock with regular watering and feeding.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
