Parrotia persica Persian Spire 150-175 CM

Parrotia persica Persian Spire 150-175 CM

Parrotia persica 'Persian Spire' is a narrowly upright, columnar selection of Persian ironwood, ideal where space is limited yet a strong vertical accent is desired. Deciduous and slow-growing, it carries attractive foliage that turns brilliant shades of orange, red and purple in autumn. Small, spidery red flowers can appear on bare branches in late winter to early spring, though they are subtle compared with its outstanding seasonal colour. Suited to Irish gardens, plant in full sun or light shade in fertile, well‑drained soil that is preferably acid to neutral (avoid very chalky conditions). Its compact, architectural habit makes it an excellent choice for avenues, narrow borders, or as a structural feature in modern and formal designs.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
