A deciduous shrub or multi-stemmed tree with large, dark green, shiny leaves that appear in spring with or after the showy display of flowers. The large, goblet-shaped flowers range from rose-pink to white to purple. In autumn, the leaves change from green to yellow to brown.

Soil: Moist but well-drained, acid to neutral
