Dicksonia Antarctica 45cm 1.5ft

Dicksonia antarctica is a classic tree fern valued for its bold, architectural presence. It develops a fibrous trunk topped with a shuttlecock of fresh-green fronds, which in good conditions can reach 2–3m long. Grow in humus-rich, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil in partial to full shade, sheltered from drying winds. Keep well watered in dry spells, directing water into the crown, and mulch to conserve moisture; in colder areas, protect the crown over winter. An excellent choice for creating a lush, tropical feel in shaded borders, courtyards and woodland-style plantings.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
