Dicksonia Antarctica 120-130cm 4 foot

Dicksonia Antarctica 120-130cm 4 foot

Dicksonia antarctica, the soft tree fern, is a slow-growing, architectural fern forming a stout, fibrous trunk topped with a striking crown of large, arching, evergreen fronds. Best in partial to full shade, it thrives in a sheltered position with humus-rich, consistently moist but well-drained soil. Keep the crown and trunk well watered in dry spells, and protect the crown with fleece or straw in severe cold. Minimal maintenance is needed beyond removing old fronds as new growth emerges. Over time it can form an impressive trunk and broad canopy, making a dramatic feature in shaded courtyards, woodland plantings, and exotic-style gardens.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
