Crataegus Pauls Scarlet

Crataegus Pauls Scarlet

Crataegus laevigata 'Paul's Scarlet' is a hardy, deciduous ornamental hawthorn forming a rounded small tree with glossy, lobed green leaves. In late spring it bears showy clusters of double, deep pink-red blossom (typically May), creating a vivid display. Suited to full sun or light shade in fertile, well-drained soil, it is tolerant of a range of soil types including clay and chalk. With time it can reach around 8m in height and spread, making a reliable feature tree for gardens across Ireland.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
