APPLE SUMMERRED

APPLE SUMMERRED

Malus domestica 'Summerred' is a deciduous dessert apple producing spring blossom that is pink in bud, opening white, which attracts bees and other pollinators. Grow in full sun for the best cropping, in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Avoid waterlogging and late-frost pockets to protect the blossom. As with most apples, reliable harvests are achieved when a compatible apple cultivar that flowers at a similar time is grown nearby for cross‑pollination. Prune in the dormant season to maintain an open, balanced framework, and thin fruits in early summer if necessary to improve fruit size and quality. Fully hardy and well-suited to Irish gardens.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
