Amelanchier lamarckii

Amelanchier lamarckii

Amelanchier lamarckii is a graceful small tree or large multi-stem shrub valued for its blossom, berries and autumn colour. In spring it carries a profusion of starry white flowers, often opening alongside young bronze-tinged leaves; small dark berries follow in early summer, and the foliage can develop rich orange-red tones in autumn. Best grown in moist but well-drained, neutral to acid soil in sun or light shade, it is fully hardy in Ireland and suits smaller gardens, woodland edges, or as a specimen. Avoid very chalky soils; otherwise generally low-maintenance once established.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
