Acer palmatum Koto-no-ito 80-100 CM C12

Acer palmatum 'Koto-no-ito' is a refined Japanese maple valued for its exceptionally fine, thread-like leaves that give a delicate, lacy texture through the growing season. Fresh green foliage emerges in spring and matures to green before turning brilliant shades of yellow to orange-red in autumn. Forming a narrow, upright small tree with an elegant outline, it is ideal as a focal specimen for sheltered gardens and Japanese-style planting schemes. Best in a moist but well-drained, fertile, humus-rich soil, preferably slightly acidic to neutral, and with shelter from cold, drying winds; position in sun or light shade to protect the fine foliage from scorch.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
