Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood' 80-100 CM C12

Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood' 80-100 CM C12

Acer palmatum ‘Bloodgood’ is a celebrated Japanese maple grown for its rich, purple-red foliage that holds well through the growing season before turning bright red in autumn. Small red‑purple flowers appear in spring and may be followed by winged fruits, though the tree is chiefly valued for its striking leaves and graceful branching. For Irish gardens, plant in a sheltered position out of cold, drying winds, in moist but well‑drained, fertile, humus‑rich soil that is preferably slightly acidic. Best in light shade or sun with protection from the hottest exposure; mulch annually to help maintain soil moisture and leaf quality. Ultimate size is typically 4–8m in height and spread over time.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
