Weigela flor. ‘Black & White’ is a compact, bushy deciduous shrub grown for its dark purple foliage and neat clusters of clean white, tubular flowers in early summer (May–June). Best leaf colour develops in full sun, though it also grows well in light shade. Plant in moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil; it will tolerate chalk. A tidy, small-sized weigela suited to mixed borders and smaller gardens; prune after flowering to maintain shape. Eventual height around 50–60cm.
