LAVATERA T. BARNSLEY

Much-loved for its long summer display, Lavatera ‘Barnsley’ produces a profusion of soft pink, mallow-like blooms with a deeper rosy eye from midsummer into early autumn. Fast to establish and naturally bushy, it forms a generous backdrop for sunny borders and cottage-style plantings. Grow in full sun and well-drained, moderately fertile soil (it copes with chalk). Prune hard in early spring to encourage vigorous new growth and abundant flowers. Semi-evergreen foliage is mid-green and lobed; ultimately reaches around 2–3m, making a striking, floriferous feature through the warm months. Hardy in most areas of the UK (H5).
