PIERIS JAPONICA DEBUTANTE (BE)
PIERIS JAPONICA DEBUTANTE (BE)
Pieris japonica ‘Debutante’ is a compact, slow-growing evergreen shrub valued for its profuse clusters of small, white, urn-shaped flowers in early spring, set against neat, glossy foliage. It thrives in acidic, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil, and is best in light shade, though it will tolerate sun if the soil remains reliably moist and acidic. Ideal for ericaceous borders and containers filled with lime-free (ericaceous) compost, and best in a sheltered spot out of drying winds; fully hardy in Irish gardens.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
