Hydrangea arb. Annabelle (Hydrangea arborescens ‘Annabelle’) is a deciduous shrub prized for its huge, rounded heads of white flowers from July to September. Forming a bushy plant with broadly oval green leaves, it typically reaches 1.5–2.5m tall and wide. Grow in sun or partial shade in moist but well‑drained, fertile soil. Awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it has a moderate growth rate and suits flower borders and beds in cottage and informal schemes as well as city and courtyard gardens. Prune in late winter or early spring, cutting back to strong buds to encourage sturdy new growth.
