Cytisus Goldfinch

Cytisus Goldfinch

Cytisus ‘Goldfinch’ is a compact, deciduous broom valued for its profuse late spring display of bicoloured pea-flowers, bright yellow with warm orange-red markings, carried on slender green shoots. Typically reaching around 1–1.5m in height and spread, it thrives in full sun and light, well-drained, poor to moderately fertile soils, preferring acid to neutral conditions; avoid chalk and waterlogging. A low‑maintenance choice for sunny borders and banks, it is drought-tolerant once established; prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape, avoiding cuts into older wood.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
