Carex elata Aurea
Carex elata Aurea
Carex elata ‘Aurea’ (Bowles’ Golden Sedge) is a semi-evergreen, mound-forming sedge prized for its vivid golden-yellow leaves, forming bright, tidy tussocks that illuminate damp ground. Small, brown flower spikes appear in late spring to early summer. For Irish gardens it thrives in consistently moist to wet soil, including pond margins and bog gardens, and grows well in full sun or light shade. Excellent for adding colour to borders and for container planting. Awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit for reliability and performance.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
