Betula utilis jacquemontii

Betula utilis jacquemontii

Betula utilis jacquemontii

Betula utilis jacquemontii is a striking, medium-sized deciduous birch prized for its gleaming, peeling white bark that brings year-round, especially winter, interest. Fresh green leaves emerge in spring to form a light, open canopy that casts dappled shade, then turn clear yellow in autumn; slender catkins add seasonal interest in spring. Best grown in full sun to light shade on moist, well-drained, moderately fertile soil, it prefers neutral to acidic conditions. Superb as a specimen or in repeated planting for an architectural or formal effect, where its brilliant bark and elegant habit provide strong structure.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
