Acorus gramineus Ogon

Acorus gramineus Ogon

Acorus gramineus ‘Ogon’ is a clump-forming, grass-like perennial grown for its bright golden-yellow, green-striped foliage that brings year-round texture to damp borders, bog gardens and the shallow margins of ponds. Best in reliably moist to wet soil, it copes well with poorly drained ground and is happiest in full sun to partial shade. A low-maintenance, fully hardy choice in Ireland, it forms neat, slowly spreading clumps ideal for soft edging and water-side planting.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.

Position Position: Full sun to partial shade
Growth Rate of Growth: Slow, clump-forming
Soil Soil: Moist to wet, humus-rich or poorly drained soil; excellent at pond margins and in boggy ground
Hardiness Hardiness: Fully hardy in Ireland
