Vinca minor (lesser periwinkle) is a neat, evergreen, mat-forming groundcover with glossy green foliage and violet‑blue flowers in spring. Reliable in sun, partial shade or full shade, it thrives in most well-drained soils and is ideal for underplanting shrubs, covering banks and slopes, edging paths and suppressing weeds. Typically 10–20cm tall, spreading 1–1.5m over time; trim lightly after flowering to keep compact. Fully hardy.
