Mahonia aq. 'Volcano' PBR 30-40 cm.
Mahonia aq. 'Volcano' PBR 30-40 cm.
Mahonia aquifolium ‘Volcano’ (PBR) is an evergreen shrub with glossy, holly-like leaflets that provide year-round structure. In spring it bears clusters of bright yellow, scented flowers, often followed by blue-black berries. Reliable in Irish gardens, it grows best in moist but well-drained, fertile soil in sun or light shade, and is fully hardy. Expect an eventual size around 1–1.5m in height and spread over time.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
