Leucothoe Zeblid (Scarletta)

Leucothoe fontanesiana ‘Zeblid’ (Scarletta) is a compact, evergreen shrub prized for its arching habit and year-round foliage interest. New leaves emerge bronze-red, mature to glossy green in summer, and develop rich red to purple tones in colder months. Small white, urn-shaped flowers appear in late spring. Ideal for woodland and shaded borders where the soil is acid (ericaceous), humus-rich, and moist but well-drained. Slow to moderate in growth, it typically reaches about 60 cm tall and 90 cm wide, performing best in partial to full shade and sheltered positions; minimal pruning is required to remove any damaged stems after winter. Fully hardy.
