Hibiscus syriacus Rote Heinje

Hibiscus syriacus Rote Heinje

Hibiscus syriacus Rote Heinje is a deciduous, medium-sized shrub with an upright, bushy habit, valued for its showy late-summer blooms that extend the season of interest when many plants have finished. For best results in Ireland, grow in a warm, sunny, sheltered position in moist but well‑drained, moderately fertile soil; it will tolerate chalky conditions. Once established it is hardy and relatively low‑maintenance; prune lightly in early spring to remove dead or congested wood. Ideal as a specimen or placed in mixed borders to provide dependable colour late in the year, typically maturing to around 2–3m over time.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
