Carnation (Dianthus Charmy)

Carnation (Dianthus Charmy)

Carnation (Dianthus Charmy)

A compact, sun-loving dianthus for Irish gardens, valued for its neat, low habit and generous summer display. It thrives in full sun and freely draining, moderately fertile soil, including light sandy or chalky ground. Reliable and hardy in Ireland, this semi-evergreen perennial is ideal for edging, containers and rock gardens. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage a longer display through late spring and summer, and avoid waterlogged soils, especially in winter.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
