Camellia jap. Bonomiana (Camellia japonica ‘Bonomiana’) is a slow-growing, evergreen camellia forming an upright, bushy shrub with glossy dark-green leaves. It bears large, rose-like pink blooms, often streaked with deeper pink, in spring. Best in partial shade and a sheltered position, it thrives in acid, humus-rich, moist but well‑drained soil. A fine choice for woodland-style planting, as a specimen, or in containers with ericaceous compost; prune lightly after flowering if shaping is required. Hardy in most UK gardens (H5).
