Calamagrostis acut. Overdam
Calamagrostis acut. Overdam
A refined, upright, clump-forming ornamental grass with striking variegated foliage, Calamagrostis ‘Overdam’ produces narrow green leaves edged creamy-white, often flushed pink in spring. Stiff vertical stems carry airy purplish flower plumes in summer that mature to pale, straw-coloured seedheads, giving long-season structure in Irish gardens. Best in full sun or light shade on moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil; tidy by cutting back old stems in late winter before new growth resumes.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
