Bergenia ‘Eroica’ (elephant’s ears) is a robust, shade-tolerant, evergreen perennial forming dense clumps of leathery foliage and carrying masses of pink flowers in spring. Reliable and low-maintenance, it thrives in sun or partial shade and in most moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soils, coping with dry shade once established. Ideal as groundcover for edging and rockeries, in gravel gardens, banks and containers, and valuable for early pollinators.
