Berberis darwinii Nana

Berberis darwinii Nana

Berberis darwinii ‘Nana’ is a compact, slow-growing evergreen barberry forming a dense, spiny mound of small, glossy green leaves. In April–May it carries clusters of vivid orange flowers, often followed by blue-black berries later in the season. Reliable and fully hardy in Irish gardens, it performs well in sun or light shade and in any well-drained, moderately fertile soil. Its neat, prickly habit makes it well suited to small borders, banks, and low informal hedging.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
