ANGELICA gigas
ANGELICA gigas
Angelica gigas is a striking biennial or short-lived perennial valued for its bold, architectural presence and domed umbels of rich purple flowers in late summer. Grow in full sun or light shade in moist, fertile, well-drained soil. Plants form a leafy rosette in their first season and then send up tall flowering stems the next, after which they may die; allow seed heads to mature if you’d like it to self-seed for future displays. Fully hardy and excellent for adding late-season drama to mixed borders.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
