Anemone nemorosa

Anemone nemorosa

Anemone nemorosa, the wood anemone, is a delicate, low-growing woodland perennial producing simple white, star-like flowers in early spring above fresh green, divided foliage. Best in light shade under deciduous trees or at the front of shaded borders, it prefers a humus-rich, moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil and will slowly form natural drifts from slender rhizomes if left undisturbed. Compact and low-maintenance, it typically reaches about 15cm tall with a spread of 30–50cm, making an excellent edging or ground-cover accent for informal borders and cottage-style plantings.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
